The importance of oxygen

Introduction

Solid tumors are often hypoxic, meaning that they lack oxygen. Hypoxia may also be present in small tumors and microscopic tumors. Why is hypoxia important? It's important because it is well known that conventional therapies such as radiation and chemotherapy work well in the presence of Oxygen. This applies for alternative treatments such as IVAA (intravenous ascorbic acid) which relies on the presence of O2 for the generation of tumor-toxic Hydrogen Peroxide.

The problem is a lot of cancer patients are anemic. This further compromises conventional cancer treatment. If we can somehow increase the oxygenation of tissues, especially of tumors, we should be able to achieve higher tumor kill.
